This CD was recorded just before Christmas 2002 and given out before any retakes or fixes to about 60 associates and friends for preview. It was a very diverse group of family, friends, business associates, and church friends which included a large contingent of foreign graduate students. 

Since your family is usually your toughest critic, my most cherished review was from my brother Rueben, who couldn’t praise it enough.

Another surprise was the varied selection of a “favorite song.” Almost every selection was someone’s favorite. My wife Carolyn’s family all picked “The Holy City.” (It must be genetic.)

Here is a sample of what we heard:

Jennifer (my voice teacher) was in tears part way into “Silent Night” and didn’t stop until the end of the CD. That’s open for interpretation, but she seemed very happy and proud.

Kimberly, my accountant’s secretary: “That CD is awesome! My boyfriend thought so, too—we played it all weekend.” (The next day, my accountant asked to buy 12 more copies for gifts!)

Melissa, business associate: (calling from her car on her way home right after getting it) “Wow, is that beautiful! She later told me , “my mother-in-law listened to it over and over the whole holiday season.”

   Robert, a musician friend: “I was blown away.”

Nancy, a friend: “I’m stunned—you are full of surprises!”

Lily, a young student from China, gave me a thumbs up, which I’ve come to appreciate as meaning more than words can say.

Don,  a sound recording engineer not involved with this CD: “This is really good; if you can get it heard, people will buy it.”
