About the selections:
Each song in this collection represents some memory of Christmas, from the first Christmas I remember to the present. These moments transcend the everyday reality of my ordinary existence and are magical in their joy. The celebrations of the birth of Jesus are so important to so many, for Christian and non-Christian alike, that my experience must be the experience of most who observe this holiday. That God is present and taking pleasure in our joy is obvious for those who have eyes to see. This joy breaks through our failings or the failings of others that cause pain for us all. As flawed as we are, the large and small tragedies of our lives seem unable to exclude the grace of God during this time of unspeakable joy when God broke into history in Bethlehem 2000 years ago and the promised King was born.

Additional thoughts:
My sense of how dependant we are on others (and how relatively little we ourselves contribute to the successes we then claim) has been reinforced by my involvement with this CD. I am indebted to the creative efforts of many, alive and dead, and especially to the Creator who invites us to emulate Him. My wish for those listening is that each might relive his or her own moments of “unspeakable joy.”
